This holiday season, give someone the gift of work.
What is the gift of work campaign?
At EMBERS, we see every day how meaningful work can change a life. It offers the stability to pay rent, put food on the table, reconnect with family, and imagine a different future. It restores confidence. It renews hope. And it reminds people that they matter.
When you support the gift of work, you’re not just giving someone a shift on a job site.
You’re giving them the tools, training, gear, and encouragement they need to take that first step…and the next one. You’re helping workers overcome barriers, stay safe, show up with pride, and build a path toward long-term employment.
Work is powerful.
Work is transformational.
Work is a gift.
This holiday season, your generosity puts that gift directly into the hands of people who need it most: one person, one job, one day at a time.
Help someone get back on their feet through the gift of work.
HOW WE HELP…
WORKER SUPPORT
Supporting our workers is the core of what we do at EMBERS. Through our Worker Support Program, we aim to remove many barriers to employment: we provide tools & equipment necessary for jobs, provide lunches, and offer transportation to sites. We also offer wraparound supports such as helping to access counselling, housing search support, access to affordable groceries, and anything else our workers may need.
TRAINING PROGRAMS
EMBERS Training provides hard and soft skills training to people who are getting back into the workforce or starting a new career. We have both youth specific and more general training programs for career support and skills development. Whether someone is pursuing a career in construction, exploring other industries, or trying to establish themselves in the Canadian job market, EMBERS Training helps them uncover their strengths, build new skills, and achieve their career goals.
MATCH SAVINGS
We match our worker’s savings up to $600. In 2023, the program had 23 participants who used the savings for various goals including education, first month’s rent, computers and tools/working gear. This isn’t just about supporting savings — it’s investing in people’s ability to break barriers.
HOUSING SUPPORT
Our EMBERS Fraser Valley branch owns and operates 3 houses for men throughout Abbotsford. In 2024, EMBERS provided safe, clean and sober, affordable housing for 36 men through 3 different housing complexes that we lease.
