EMBERS is hiring a Summer Event & Marketing Assistant to support marketing, storytelling, fundraising, and events across our charity and social enterprise initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, community engagement, social media, fundraising, and event coordination while contributing to meaningful social impact work.

The successful candidate will work closely with EMBERS’ marketing and leadership team to help share worker stories, support campaigns and events, create engaging content, and assist with community outreach initiatives, including our 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament.

Salary: $21-24/hour, dependent on experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with social media content creation, scheduling, and community engagement

  • Support storytelling initiatives by collecting worker and community success stories

  • Help create marketing materials including graphics, newsletters, website content, and event promotions

  • Assist with fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and sponsorship outreach

  • Support planning and coordination for community and fundraising events, including the 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

  • Assist with silent auction coordination, donor recognition, and event logistics

  • Draft and edit professional communications including emails, social posts, and promotional materials

  • Attend occasional events, job sites, or community activities to capture content and support outreach efforts

  • Maintain organized marketing and event records

  • Provide general administrative and marketing support as needed

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable using social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn

  • Creative, organized, and detail-oriented

  • Interest in marketing, events, fundraising, communications, or nonprofit work

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with Canva, photography, video editing, or content creation is considered an asset

  • Must be willing to travel occasionally throughout the Lower Mainland for events or content collection

Eligibility Requirements

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection under the law
